


Trekking the Great Wall of China connection you to both nature and history. Hikers can enjoy breathtaking views learning at the same time about ancient Chinese military engineering and strategy, myths and legends, geographical challenges faced by those who built and defended the wall.
Howareyou.asia offers a 12 days tour from the western province of Shaanxi eastward to Beijing, where the best sections of the wall stand. The itinerary is: Xian, Yulin, Shenmu, Datong, Badaling, Beijing. Level of difficulty: moderate. Period: June 25th – October 25th, 2025.



The trip stars in Xian (Shaanxi province), the ancient Chinese capital city, where we visit the famous Army of the Terracotta warriors. By train we reach the city of Yulin that is considered the heart of the Great Wall, built to protect a vast battle field area from where northern invaders had been trying to breach the Chinese defenses along the centuries.
The journey continues through Shanxi province with a stop in Datong, another important imperial city with standing city walls next to the UNESCO world heritage site of the Yungang Grottoes.
We cross Hebei province by train reaching the Beijing Municipality that offers the best preserved sections of the Great Wall.



In essence we have chosen six sections of the wall with easy treks of about 10 km day in a variety of landscapes, from the western highlands around the Yellow river to the alpine sections near Beijing.
